Our Adventures with Kismet: Return to Kismet

Wednesday morning June 1st we headed out to Macedon, NY for "hopefully" several weeks upon Kismet. The car was packed to the top (as usual) with all the supplies we think we will need. Along with Miss Millie and two other little friends.

It was a beautiful sunny morning and we were excited to get on the road. So by 8:30 a.m. we were off. As we were literally turning off of our street Mike receives a call from our marina. Seriously all I could think of was "oh crap now what". Mike had scheduled to have some work done on the boat and there were some issues. Issues being that they were just going to start the work the next morning and it wasn't going to be as easy of a job as first thought. They were going to have to remove the top of the back part of the boat to reach the engines and that meant getting in and out of the boat would be well, shall we say a challenge. We discussed whether we should just turn around and stay home till it was completed or whether to just keep going. Well keep going we did. (more on boat issues later).

As I said earlier we had a couple of friends along. As most of you know we have several grandsons (little ones) and to entertain them on this blog we have brought along some of their friends. Meet Moose and Dog, yes the boys named them, confusing, maybe, but fun none the less. So you will see these two as they join us in our adventure.

Yes we stopped at 8 Sister's. It wouldn't be a trip up north with out it.

The weather/driving was pretty good until we hit Buffalo and it then got a bit dicey. At one point we had to get off the freeway as Mike couldn't see in front of us.

We arrived at the marina around 5:30 p.m. We unpacked and cleaned up the water that had leaked through the windows. (That problem will hopefully be taken care of soon.) Grabbed a bite to eat and turned in for the night. We were exhausted. We were rewarded by this beautiful sunset. After a long day the sunset reminded us that tomorrow is a new day.

The next morning I woke early. I never sleep well the first night. I stepped out the boat and caught this photo below. It was just beginning to get light.

Minutes later the sky turned once again.

After finishing off that first cup of coffee Millie and I headed out for a walk. The flowers at the marina certainly are pretty. Love that purple.

What I didn't love so much was the price of gas (marine version) OUCH indeed.

Millie and I returned back to the boat and found Mike up and ready for the day. We decided to take Millie for another walk. While on our walk we came across these two deer.

And these little snails were everywhere.

Not sure if you can tell from the photo above, but the milkweed was heavy the past two days. Almost looked like it had snowed.

Our second day here was a busy one and unfortunately I didn't get photos of many of the events of the day. Mike had a discussion with the guys from the marina in regards to replacing the raw water impellers. They were supposed to start work on that Thursday but after figuring out exactly what had to be done we opted to have this done later after we have left.

We made a trip to the grocery store to pick up provisions. I had that new refrigerator to fill up don't ya know. Then Mike worked on getting the water hooked up only to find that the faucet in the shower (that we don't use) was busted and water was leaking out all over. After 3 hours and 2 trips to 2 different hardware stores he was finally able to locate the piece he needed to cap off those lines, for now. Whew crisis averted.

After dinner we went for yet another walk with Millie.
