Heading back to home port

Friday morning in Bushnell Basin was quite peaceful.  The facilities there are kept in excellent shape and even "being on display" from the custard shop wasn't so bad.  Now if they could just teach the tour boat driver how to slow down it would be perfect.  Oh well it was still an enjoyable experience.  This morning though we were headed back to Macedon our home port.  After almost 2 weeks of outstanding cruising we were ready to get back to Macedon.  

Miss Millie was ready to get back and head home.  

So after some final preparations we were one our way by 8:00 a.m. It would be an easy 1-1/2 hour or so cruise today.  One lift bridge and no locks. 

It was a warm and sunny morning.

 Millie once again took her post on my lap.  She loves watching all the scenery going by.  We made it though the lift bridge in Fairport with no problem.  Cruising this morning was ideal.

Okay that is something we have never seen along the canal.  A complete family of deer were by the water drinking.  They hung around long enough for me to take this photo, but then soon scurried off into the trees.  

We arrived back to Macedon before 10:00 a.m.  It was good to be back and were greeted by one of our dock mates Bob who so kindly took a line from me as we arrived at our dock.  Sorry no pictures of that as I can't handle lines and a camera at the same time.  

As you can see from the photo above it was a beautiful day and the clouds well once again they did not disappoint. 

So what does one do after a two week trip on the water?  Work on your boat of course.  After being on the boat off and on all summer we came to figure out things that worked for us and thing that didn't.  So we decide that on the "lido deck" as Mike calls it, the seating in the back was simply not serving our needs.  So what did we do?  Removed them of course.  This way it frees up the back area for portable chairs if someone visits and easier access to the storage underneath the other benches.  So 2 hours later and one trip to the dump things were looking much better.  

We continued some odd jobs around the boat.  Laundry needed to be caught up. Mike had some "little" tasks he wants to complete.  Most of all we started going through things that we would be taking home as we were planning now to leave on Sunday and knew we wouldn't be back until next year.  

Saturday we have plans to have lunch with Laurel and Bob from here at the marina and then meet up later with Teri and Mark from Baldwinsville for dinner.  Plus more packing.  It's going to be a busy day.
