So we were off. We cruised slowly at first as we wanted to catch a glimpse of our friends Mark and Teri's home on our way by, just in hopes we might see them.
As luck would have it, well and an early morning text, there was Mark waving as we cruised by. They have a beautiful home and a delightful family and we are so blessed that they have come into our lives.
As we headed west on the canal the sun was at our back and with little or no wind the water was calm and made some of the most picturesque reflection photos.
Above a panoramic view of Lake Cross.
Mid morning we delved into the scrumptious blueberry muffins that Teri had brought us the day before. They were the perfect morning treat.
And then there was this guy (above). The catameran was HUGE! It was on it's way to Buffalo and they too where trying to beat the rain, but as they had much further to go we got out of their way so they could pass us by. It was a commercial boat for site seeing.
I took a couple of turns behind the helm this day. I am becoming much more comfortable or confident as Mike says. This way it gives him a break. I must admit I do enjoy it as long as there is nothing close by for me to hit.
As they day went on the clouds started rolling in. We were expecting this to happen but not quite so quickly. As we approached Clyde we had to make the decision as to whether to stay there the night or proceed on to Lyons and hope there was room on the wall. After a bit of discussion we decided to go for it. The journey was only a little over and hour more and even if it rained (they were predicting light showers) we figured we could make it.
I headed down below to grab our rain gear so when the rain came we would be prepared. In the mean time the helm seat decides its going to give way. Ugh! Well Mike the awesome Captain that he is carefully laid the seat back on the pedestal and "gently" manuevered the boat into Lyons.
Now since Millie stays in her kennel up on the helm with us while we cruise I had to come up with something that would shed the rain off her too. So I grabbed the vinyl table cloth and draped it over her kennel to reflect the water. It worked fine and she was happy. You know our motto..."improvise, adapt, and overcome".
Seriously how can you not LOVE THIS FACE!
The temperature had risen to the mid 80's by evening, not as high as our family was experiencing at home, but warm enough when living on a boat. So I made us a quick dinner, something that wasn't going to heat up the boat. You see we have a small air conditioner, but cooling a boat, at least one this old, is kind of like trying to cool a tent. We then had a low key evening and spent some time just sitting outside. By this time we were the only ones tied up to the wall so it was pretty quiet. Well that is until Karaoke Night started at the bar next to us. We did enjoy watching all the fish swimming around the boat. Oh the little things!
Well by 8:30 p.m. we were ready to call it a night and head inside. I shot one more reflection photo and in we went. Tomorrow was going to be a down day as rain is forecasted all day.

Glad you made it back to somewhere you can shower. Have fun! Gary
