Holding Tank Relocation

From the first day I (Mike) wanted to relocate the holding tank on our boat.  It was on the floor of a closet behind the head, on the same level as the toilet.  The black water hose dropped below the head, then entered the top of the holding tank.  Unless you pumped a lot of water after each use, there was always black water laying in the hose, about 4 feet worth.  Even the best hose will get permeated eventually and start to get smelly.  The large white hose is for pump out, the smaller white hose is the tank vent.

This photo shows the head removed, and the available space in the bilge under the galley floor.  Removing the center support gave me enough access to build a frame work to hold the tank in the bilge.  The black hose is the raw water supply line to the head.  

The tank has been mounted securely to prevent movement.  It took 4 days to complete during the hottest week of the year, but was worth it.

Final results were above expectations.  The exit hose from the head will always drain completely, and the only stagnant black water is in the pump out hose at the bottom of the tank.
