Woke up Sunday morning to once again heat and humidity. Another day of heat warnings. So where do I find Mike? Tearing up the floor of the boat of course. As crazy as this may seem it really was a smart move. This was about 6:30 a.m. and the boat had not heated up by then. You see when you buy an old boat (1978) they always come with their issues. One of Kismet's issues is the bilge pump was coming on and pumping out clear water. In layman's terms the boat was taking on small amounts of water in the bottom (bilge) of the boat and the automatic pump was pumping it over when it came to a certain level. As scary as this may sound the water coming out was clear (not canal water) so Mike believes it is from the water system going to the galley. Only way to check this out is to pull up the floor boards. Ugh!

Again in old boats when you open up one issue others arise. Because we had somewhere to go that morning Mike opted to take some measurements (to make up some access hatches) put things back together and would tackle this issue later.
While Mike was working I took Miss Millie for a walk. The marina has all these lovely daisies just popping up all over. Such a joy to see.
A quick shot of the galley and the new curtains. Everything is still a work in progress. On our next trip I will be working on recovering the settee, the brown flowered fabric has got to go. Besides I had removed the fabric from the couch on the last boat as it was only on for about a couple of weeks and will reuse it to cover these seats.
Now on to where we were going this Sunday morning. Well we were off to Brockport, NY and pay a visit to Skoog Farm. For those of you that have not heard me talk before of the Skoogs, Gary and Lori they are a couple we met literally 6 years ago (to the date) when we arrived in Brockport on the canal. Gary at the time was a volunteer at the welcome center down at the canal and we had been told by some other dear friends Sandy and Jeff Bacon (other boaters) to be sure to get in touch with the Skoogs when we arrived in Brockport. Well we did and to make a long story short we have been friends ever since.
I received a message from Lori the day before asking if we would like to come and escape the heat of the boat and the heat in general and come spend the night at the farm. So after a bit of discussion we accepted the invite and we were off.
Sunday morning is when Brockport has their farmers market downtown and a music group that Lori belongs to was playing so we decided to head their first.
The group was called "She Sings" and they were just wonderful.
I love downtown Brockport. It's filled with beautiful old architecture, fantastic small shops, restaurants and a superior bookstore. The people are so friendly and it is right on the canal.
After listening to the group and talking a quick walk downtown and paying a visit to the bookstore we headed over to the welcome center to see the boats and sit for a bit.
Only two boats tied up today, but they were beauties.
Miss Millie enjoyed watching the rental boat come down the canal. After a quick visit to the canal we were off to Skoog Farm.
Miss Millie meets Little Wonder for the first time. To our delight they got along very well. Millie loves meeting new friends.
As I have said many times before Skoogs Farm is a magical place and an amazing place to take photos of everything. My joy comes from all the gorgeous flowers and plants that Gary grows all over the Farm.
Skoog Farm as I said is a magical place. Gary and Lori have lived here for 40 years, raised their daughters here, enjoyed their grandchildren and the hundreds (if not thousands) of friends they have made over the years from all over the world. These two have had so many experiences and are a fountain of knowledge about so very much. I always learn so much while visiting.
Every corner of their home has a story to tell.
Can we talk about the food that Lori puts out for us every time we are there. You not only fill your soul while visiting the Skoogs but Lori always makes sure you never go away hungry.

Along with the beautiful house and barn on the property is also an indoor arena. Which this particular morning the sun was coming through the doors and shone such a beautiful warm light.
We couldn't thank Lori and Gary enough for their friendship, hospitality and giving us some respite from the heat. Before we left Lori suggested I go out and take some cutting from their hydrangea bush. I jumped at the opportunity as I always love having fresh flowers. So I brought back to the boat a bunch similar to the ones above that Lori had in her kitchen.
So Monday morning we headed back to the boat
